Why you need to go to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party (MNSSHP) if you have food allergies.
Halloween can be a bit of a nightmare as a kid with allergies because they just want to be like everyone else, being able to trick or treat with their friends, not having to pick candy based on what they CAN eat. Then to add to it all the fun sized bars don’t have allergen information on them or if they do they’re so small i mean who can read that? Thankfully there’s a quick google search to find out if it’s safe.
But all of this can go out the window at Mickey’s not so scary Halloween Party, a ticketed event on select nights August 11th- November 1st at the Magic Kingdom where you’ll get to dress up (yes plenty of adults/entire families dress up even better when you have a family theme) and trick or treat through out the Magic Kingdom. There are MANY other things not to miss about the party but for this post we’re going to just talk about allergy friendly trick or treating.
You’ll enter the Magic Kingdom and get your wristband and map for the event, here’s where you’ll pick up your teal blue bag that will tell the cast members you’ll be trick or treating for allergy friendly tokens that night.
The map will layout all the special things going on that night (spoiler there’s a lot more than trick or treating but this really is a treat if you’re an allergy family) and all the trick or treating spots.
You’ll go to each spot and instead of getting candy you’ll pick up a teal token- these are cashed in either at Liberty Square ticket office or in the front of the park at Guest Services.
At Guest Services/ticket office (these should also be noted on the map) they will have all the options laid out (or a poster with wrappers) with each allergen listed, you’ll speak with the cast member and they’ll assist you in which treats are safe for your allergens, you’ll tell them what you’d like and they’ll fill your bag with goodies.
(pro tip: half way through the party go to liberty square and get some goodies if you pick up more tokens throughout the night stop by guest relations on your way out of the park)
